Description
The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) collaborates with health and science experts to establish quality standards for medicines and food ingredients. As a Scientist I/II in the Synthetics Laboratory, you will be responsible for designing synthetic routes for USP Reference Standard candidate materials and API impurities. Tasks include conducting a literature search, synthesizing target molecules, and ensuring
adherence to quality management systems and laboratory safety practices.Qualifications
- Minimum M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with 1-6 years of industrial experience.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and spectral data interpretation.
- Experience in process development and adherence to lab safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Literature Search: Conduct research related to assigned projects using scientific databases.
- Synthetic Design: Develop synthetic routes for small molecules and create project proposals.
- Synthesis & Isolation: Perform synthesis of pharmaceutical impurities, reference standards, and degradation impurity standards.
- Purification: Purify compounds through techniques like crystallization and column chromatography.
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and complete projects as per timelines and document experiments.
- Analytical Interpretation: Analyze synthesized compounds using IR, NMR, Mass Spectra, and other methods.
- Lab Safety: Strictly adhere to lab safety norms and communicate effectively within the team.
Additional Preferences
- Knowledge in a wide range of organic reactions and handling sensitive chemicals.
- Experience in GMP/GLP environment and documentation procedures.
- Track record of patents or publications in synthetic organic chemistry.
