Summary:
The Sr. Research Assistant will pursue new silicone polymer, oligomer, or silane materials development efforts and analytical characterization in close collaboration with Business Units, ensuring alignment with project goals. This role also involves evolving as an impactful team player with good organizational citizenship and applying project management skills appropriately.
Responsibilities Include:
- EH&S: Learn and strictly adhere to safe work practices in the lab; exhibit and promote proactive safe behaviors in all lab activities.
- Synthesize and Develop: Responsible for the synthesis and development of novel silicone-based polymers, oligomers, or silane materials for varied applications.
- Collaborate: Work inclusively in close collaboration with Business Units (BUs)/global stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Project Execution: Work effectively with project leaders to execute project plans, ensuring timely and positive progress.
- Communication: Effectively communicate experimental results and findings within CRD (Corporate Research & Development) and with global partners.
Qualifications:
The following are required for the role:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry with 1-2 years of experience in organic chemistry/polymer chemistry or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience in handling complex polymer/organic synthesis procedures in a safe and efficient manner.
- Knowledge & Expertise: Solid knowledge in synthetic chemistries and standard characterization techniques (e.g., Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Gas Chromatography (GC), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)).
- Skills: Proficient in the use of basic statistical tools to provide clear understanding to experimental results.
- Safety: Strong safety ethics and demonstrated knowledge/experience to safely lead lab research methods.
