Job Summary (Purpose):
- This position independently leads end-to-end planning and implementation of all product development initiatives (new products, relaunches, funding the growth projects, etc.) as defined in the technology grid to achieve sustainable business growth.
- Responsible for maintaining 100% compliance with all guidelines related to product safety, quality, and regulatory requirements and ensuring smooth operations (pilot plant and technology transfer).
Main Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence:
- Formulation development, service consumer test samples, lab and pilot plant batches, aging studies, record keeping, and documentation.
- Independently lead pilot plant operations and ensure 100% compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for the assigned product/brand.
- Leverage science and data analytics to identify potential problems or opportunities and create appropriate action plans in consultation with the manager.
- Provide excellent support for ongoing and new product development projects and initiatives, including margin improvement programs to improve the bottom line.
- Apply statistical approaches to experimental design to enhance learning with the least amount of time and minimum resources.
- Be 100% compliant with all product safety, quality, and regulatory requirements to operate cost-effectively and with speed throughout the product lifecycle.
- Gain expertise in respective product category fundamentals and develop the capability to independently implement projects from conceptualization to on-ground implementation.
- Share internal and external technical knowledge discoveries, ideas, and vision with colleagues through documentation, presentations, publications, and patents.
- Lead supplier qualification programs for raw and packing materials and provide support to packaging material qualification programs.
- Be agile and respond quickly to changing consumer and/or business expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes to enhance compliance and speed to market for all existing and new products.
New Product Development:
- Integrate technological breakthroughs and consumer insights to develop new ideas, products, innovative technologies, solutions, and communications that engage and delight the consumer, shopper, and profession.
- Plan and implement brief and off-brief projects independently with minimum supervision.
- Lead all product development projects for assigned products/brands (existing and new) from conceptualization to on-ground implementation.
- Develop expertise in brand/range technology to create innovative product bundles and solutions addressing unmet consumer needs.
- Develop impactful claims for existing and new products, leading to balanced business growth.
- Translate technical attributes into simple, consumer-relevant benefits and concepts.
- Apply scientific knowledge and curiosity to innovation, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
- Explore opportunities to optimize costs through formula and process optimization and identify new vendors for quality ingredient sourcing at low cost.
Business Partnering/Relationship Building:
- Build formal and informal networks to stay updated with new technology trends and breakthroughs.
- Partner closely with commercial and supply chain functions to drive sustainable business growth and build strong business insights (end-to-end understanding).
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of technology programs (e.g., partnerships with Marketing/CIC, Supply Chain, India GTC, Piscataway, and other GTCs).
Build Future-Ready Agile Organization:
- Leverage Colgate’s performance management and development process to enhance one’s performance and capability.
- Mentor and coach trainees/interns in a structured manner to enhance their performance and contribution to the organization.
- Demonstrate Colgate’s coaching program and initiatives by giving and seeking feedback on an ongoing basis.
Required:
- Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, or Technology.
- Proven experience in R&D.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working in an FMCG (Oral Care/Personal Care) company.
