What role you will play in our team
Lab Technician is responsible for performing testing of samples in day-to-day operation, including ensuring a safe working environment with zero accidents and ensuring contractors adhere to established standard maintenance procedures and JLA (Job Loss Analysis). Ensure Product Integrity and Controls compliance with company policies, guidelines, and framework.
Candidate must be willing to work in any shifts. 1st & 2nd shift person will be on rotation.
Job location: EM LOBP – Isambe village, Khalapur, Maharashtra (India)
What you will do
- Perform QC analysis of products and raw material samples according to ExxonMobil Process and Standard, ASTM, and other approved test methods.
- Update test data into the QALIMS for generation of reports and batch release.
- Inspect Certificate of Analysis (COA) for incoming raw materials.
- Ensure that established test methods and equipment operating procedures are followed.
- Ensure that all testing raw data and results are recorded in a timely manner and in conformance to DIAF requirements.
- Ensure the raw data & records are retained in the respective files according to established document retention guidelines.
- Communicate with manufacturing staff in routine operations and provide quality control support to the blending, filling, and bulk receipt operations. E.g., flushing and service change advice, correction of off-spec blends etc.
- Verify that laboratory equipment is in working condition, informing Chemist or M&C Coordinator of non-functional or out-of-control equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting of instruments in out-of-control situations.
- Ensure effective hand-over of responsibility to in-coming shift.
- Assist Chemist/PIA in investigating manufacturing and product quality issues e.g., conducting hand blends and testing activities.
- Participate in Brand Approval support role and testing of samples from Zone affiliates. This includes performing lab blends for new product formulations, changes to formulations, and investigative work.
- Cover duties of other laboratory technicians during absences and provide support for overtime work outside of normal working hours.
- Assist in updating of test methods and instrument operating procedures.
- Perform or coordinate equipment calibration and maintenance activities according to plan and test method requirements.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by Lab Chemist / Technical Manager.
What you will do – Continued
Security, Safety, Health & Environment (SSHE)
- Ensures safe working environment with zero accidents.
- Ensure contractors adhere to established standard maintenance procedures and JLA (Job Loss Analysis).
- Familiar with Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) expectations on the maintenance of plant facilities.
- Participate in safety walks, inspection, near miss reporting, Loss Prevention Self-Assessment (LPSA) and LPS.
- Familiar with Work Control, Work Permit procedures, and Tier 1 Best Practices (T1BP).
- Participate in safety survey (e.g., Industrial Health survey etc.) as required by management to follow up on recommendation/action items for gaps closure.
- Ensure that all waste materials are disposed in compliance with Government Regulations and Company Environmental Policy.
- Ensure seamless taking over/ handover of plant equipment to Operations personnel to ensure equipment can be safely taken out of service/put back into service with proper documentation.
Product Integrity
- Familiar with Brand and Product Integrity management System (BPIMS)/ISO 9001:2000 guidelines and requirements, and brand integrity.
Controls
- Familiar with ExxonMobil’s System of Management Control – Basic Standards, Policies, and Corporate Oil Measurement Practices e.g., Hydrocarbon Control Practices (HCP), Controls Integrity Management Systems (CIMS), etc.
- Familiar with HCP/CIMS/ Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR)/IT Controls Manager (ITCM) requirements.
- Familiar with ICSR/ISRMP requirement.
- Ensure all measuring equipment are calibrated timely and in accordance with HCP requirements.
About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in lab operations in oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
- Familiar with Manufacturing Ops process.
- Diploma in Chemical Process Technology or Bachelors/Masters in Chemistry.
- Hands-on experience in day-to-day sample testing and maintaining test results / records keeping.
- Knowledge / certification of management systems like ISO.
- Familiar with ISO certification process.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Experience in the Lubricant Lab Operations.
- Familiar with Laboratory Quality Assurance System.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Possess basic skills in managing contractors.
