About the role
The Specialist Supplier Quality provides subject matter expertise within the area of QA/QC at suppliers’ premises to ensure that all raw material and packaging material supplied by the vendors are within the specification tolerance limit and improve the consistency in the quality of RM/PM.
What you will be doing
- Develop the specifications of all the RM and PM and implement them at supplier’s premises.
- Identify gaps in the supplier/vendor manufacturing process and address them.
- Raise awareness about the need and expectations of quality among Orica’s suppliers.
- Act as a change agent for cultural transformation at suppliers’ premises.
- Ensure raw material and packaging material provided is fit for purpose, consistent, and meets internal, external, and legal requirements.
- Develop cost-effective solutions in quality, safety, and process performance, ensuring efforts are proportionate to the associated risks.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders regarding complaints, quality issues, expectations, and solutions.
- Develop and implement strategies, training plans, and tools to ensure suppliers deliver material as per specifications.
- Lead site process improvements (MPI) and implement LEAN & Six Sigma methodologies (5S, Kaizen, A3s, VSM, etc.).
- Assist the Quality Manager with idea generation and execution in collaboration with plant owners.
- Develop knowledge and skills by networking with Quality, Technology, and Product Line Leaders.
- Manage the implementation of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) at suppliers’ premises.
- Develop test methods for critical hazardous chemicals and raw materials.
- Demonstrate commitment to all Quality & SHE standards, participate in risk mitigation, and act as a role model in safety behaviors.
- Contribute to incident investigations and the implementation of action plans to reinforce a safety culture.
- Train lab operators on sample analysis and decision-making processes.
- Coordinate with procurement, plant, SCM, and suppliers to resolve issues related to RM, PM, intermediates, and finished goods.
What you will bring
- M.Sc. in Chemistry, B.Sc. in Chemistry, or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality or Supplier Quality Management within the Chemical, Fertilizer, Pharmaceutical, Explosive, or Industrial sectors.
- At least 3 years of laboratory experience in Chemical Analysis.
- Certified Lead/Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2015.
- Proficiency in Statistical Analysis and Tools (SPC, SQC, Sampling, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to vendor/supplier locations.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and inspire others.
