Position(Designation): Officer/ Senior Officer- Analytical Science
Location: Mumbai
Grade: JM1/2
Dept/Division: Product Development
Purpose of the Role:
To plan, organize and schedule tasks of the analytical department in such a way that the analytical requirements of all cosmetic projects are met with in an accurate and reliable manner, and ensure the delivery of results in time, to improve the output of all Marico projects.
Qualification & Experience:
Master with 2-3 years of experience in analytical chemistry
Key Deliverables of the Role:
- Development of protocol/ methods for personal care and Food care application using state-of-the-art instrumentation
- Support to NPD projects in terms of claims, study, product sensory, and superiority.
- Builds, develops, and maintains a lab with cutting-edge expertise and capabilities
- Collaborates closely with external labs, institutes, and academia
- Generate Analytical Chemical for supporting Hair, Skin, and Food Business.
- Ability to independently work within a fast-paced team environment and handle multiple demands
- Design and execute the research plans and support the analytical requirements for FMCG products that provide organizational competitive edge.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Domain knowledge – The candidate should have in-depth domain knowledge in analytical science. Should have done basic research in the area stated at conception, planning, and execution levels.
- Analytical skills must include HPLC (preferably with UV, RI, ELSD detection techniques) and GC, sample preparation, and clean-up techniques (e.g., SPE, SPME, liquid-liquid extraction) and a familiarity with GPC, Ion Chromatography, and Mass Spectrometry. A working knowledge of chromatographic data systems (e.g., ChemStation, Empower) is desired.
- To ensure timely calibration of the equipment’s to improve the reliability of those equipment’s.
- To coordinate the outsourcing of analysis to external parties when equipment’s are not available within R&D, so that proper analysis results are available to interpret and understand the project.

Exposure to advanced instrumentation, collaboration with academia and institute, New Product Development process, interaction with cross-functional departments.
The incumbent will be mentored to be an expert in the field of Measurement Science and support all the needs of New Products.
