Job Description:

The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Analytical Sciences Specialist in Research & Development for India region reporting to Core R&D Leader – India. The aim of this group is to provide analytical support for all regional businesses in India. The role will be based in Mumbai .

Depending on the need of the projects, the job requires the ability to lead, operate, conduct troubleshooting, and conduct characterization using one or more analytical technologies, including instruments such as thermal analysers (DSC, TGA), evaporator, Infrared Spectrometers, Mass Spectrometers, ICP, XRF, particle size analysers, tiltrotors, pH meters, viscometers, chromatographs (HPLC, GC, SEC, GPC, LC/MS, and GC/MS), and Microscopes (Optical).

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with facility and site EH&S policies. Ensure safety in all activities.
  • Lead and Perform analytical and product characterization testing for one or more projects as required by stakeholders
  • Ensure good documentation
  • Provide support in instrument set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Provide support in method development and validation studies
  • Participate in technical training to attain on-the-job proficiency
  • Lead and Participate in good housekeeping practices
  • Routine and non-routine characterization in support of one or more Research & Development (R&D) projects.

Qualifications: 

  • A Ph.D. in Analytical or applied Chemistry or equivalent
  • No less than 7 years’ experience in an analytical role in a R&D setting
  • A good command and understanding of various instruments and techniques – Thermal, mechanical or
  • Characterization equipments (DSC, TGA, FTIR, UV-Vis, GC, HPLC, Particle size, viscometry, XRF etc.)
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques for data analysis, six sigma certification is desirable.
