Job Summary:
As a Research Associate in the API R&D (Process Research & Development) division, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling up synthetic routes for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). This role provides hands-on exposure to organic synthesis, process development, and regulatory compliance, while bridging laboratory research with pilot and commercial-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process Development: Design and develop cost-effective, innovative synthetic routes for APIs through literature surveys and route scouting.
• Process Optimization & Scale-Up: Improve yields, quality, and efficiency, and support technology transfer from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale.
• Validation & Compliance: Conduct validation studies and support GMP documentation, SOPs, and regulatory submissions.
• Experimentation & Documentation: Carry out multi-step organic synthesis, record results accurately, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with QA/QC, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Requirements:
• Proficiency in organic synthesis, functional group conversions, retrosynthetic analysis, and multi-step synthesis.
• Strong background in route scouting & literature survey to identify innovative and cost-effective synthetic pathways.
• Hands-on experience with purification techniques (TLC, column chromatography, extraction).
• Ability to handle pyrophoric reactions and moisture/air-sensitive reagents.
• Skilled in interpreting spectroscopic data (NMR, IR, Mass Spectrometry).
• Experience in transitioning reactions from milligram (lab) scale to pilot and commercial scale.
• Knowledge of GMP practices, process validation, and regulatory requirements.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a regulated R&D environment.
