Job Description

IISER Kolkata invites applications for the post of Project Manager (Facility Manager) on a contractual basis

for the Central Instrument Facility (iCIF). The selected candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation, technical management, and maintenance of advanced analytical equipment and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining equipment and support systems in optimal working condition through routine servicing and vendor liaison.
  • Managing staff and resources to ensure the smooth functioning of iCIF.
  • Assisting faculty in generating resources through extramural projects for financial sustainability.
  • Providing technical support for training programs and workshops.
  • Ensuring laboratory safety practices, compliance, and audits.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Faculty-in-Charge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: MSc and PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry from a recognized institute.

  • Experience:

    • At least 1 year of post-doctoral research experience.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience managing or operating analytical facilities in an academic or research institute.
  • Desirable Skills:

    • Expertise in analytical techniques like SPR, ITC, HPLC, SEM, TEM, NMR, and spectroscopy methods.
    • Proficiency in data analysis software, MS Office, Photoshop, and excellent English communication skills.
    • A list of publications and a letter of recommendation are required.

Expected Emoluments

₹80,000/- (Consolidated) per month with potential annual increment.

Term of Appointment

  • Purely contractual for 1 year, renewable based on performance and institutional requirements.
  • No claim for regularization or absorption in the institute.
