Advertisement for the post of Junior Research Fellow (Chemical Sciences)
Applications are invited from Indian nationals with highly motivated and bright candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (Nos. 1) in the following research project funded by the Ministry of Coal (MoC), Government of India, under the supervision of Dr. Debabrata Das, Department of Geology, Panjab
University, Chandigarh. - Title: Development of Indigenous technology for the extraction of critical minerals, including rare earth elements, from overlying strata of the Northeastern coalfields, Assam, India.

Position Details
- Name of Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF).

Education Eligibility of Position:
Master’s in Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/ with 55% marks for the general and OBC categories and 50% marks for the SC/ST categories (as per Panjab University / UGC rules). Candidate must qualify the GATE/National Eligibility Test/ State or University Level Eligibility Test/ any level JRF qualified Test.
Salary:
Rs. 37000 pm + 16% HRA (fixed)
Duration:
Schedule completion of the project is 14th July’2026. The position can be terminated with one month’s notice if the performance is found unsatisfactory at any point of the contract.
Nature of Responsibility:
To carry out acid leaching of different types of Geological materials, separation of different critical materials using ion exchange resin columns, laboratory experiments as per project need, data compilation, and report writing.
Age Limit and Relaxation:
The upper age limit shall be 30 years. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Women categories in accordance with UGC norms/Panjab University rules. Age relaxation shall be as per the applicable Panjab University/UGC guidelines, up to 5 years for SC/ST/Women candidates and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, as per rules.
Work experience:
Prior laboratory experience on acid digestion of different kinds of environmental samples and working knowledge of ion exchange resin will be highly preferred.
