Job Description:
Applications are invited for a temporary or contractual post of ‘Project Engineer’ under the project entitled “Development of Pouch Cell for Portable Electronics” at Samtel Centre for Display Technologies (SCDT), IIT Kanpur.

Desirable Qualification & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, or M.Tech. in Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in the fabrication and characterization of Li-ion / Na-ion pouch cells and coin cells.
  • Experience in the synthesis and processing of graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNT), nano-materials, and composite materials.
  • Experience in the synthesis and processing of solid-state/gel electrolytes for Flexible battery applications.
  • Strong understanding of ink formulation and characterization techniques such as rheology, surface tension, and viscosity.
  • Practical experience with printing techniques like doctor blade coating, slot-die coating, and screen printing.
  • Familiarity with electrochemical and materials characterization techniques, including CV, EIS, GCD, GITT, Raman, XPS, FESEM, TEM, etc.
  • Industry-experienced candidates with relevant publications are strongly encouraged to apply.

Nature of Work:

  • Development of Li-ion/Na-ion pouch cells for industrial applications.
  • Development of solid-state/gel electrolytes for Flexible pouch cell application.
  • Ink or paste formulation and printability testing for battery components.
  • Preparation of technical reports/presentations/manuscripts/ patents.
  • Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various processes.
  • Detailed documentation and reporting of all developed processes.

Duration of Appointment:

The appointment will be purely on a temporary and contractual basis initially for a period of one year or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier.
