The National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (formerly CIAB and NABI) operates under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Located in Knowledge City, Sector-81, Mohali, the institute focuses on agri-food innovation, biomanufacturing, and advanced R&D to support sustainable technologies and industrial applications.

The Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB) is an autonomous national institute under the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India). This futuristic innovation institute has a mission to advance knowledge and lead and emerging technologies/processes relevant to the agri-food sector towards applications and products. It aims to link them with societal benefits through catalysing and promoting entrepreneurial action around bioprocesses, bio-products, and value-addition to bioproducts with special reference to the agri-food sector.
Currently, the four major mandated R&D areas at the institute are:
- (A) Value Addition to Primary Processing Residues/Wastes for Edible Products
- (B) Valorisation of Crop Waste for Speciality Products and Chemicals
- (C) Nutritionals, nutraceuticals, and upgradation of value or use of bio-products
- (D) Biosynthetic technology/synthetic biology for low volume-high value products and industrial enzymes
To support this mission, the institute requires the following temporary research position on a fellowship basis.
Junior Research Fellow – One Position
Age Limit: 28 Years
Fellowship: Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA as admissible or Hostel facility, if available
Tenure: One year, extendable on an annual basis for subsequent years, subject to satisfactory progress, institutional needs, and financial provisions.
Qualifications:
M.Sc. in Chemistry (General/Organic/Inorganic/Physical/Others) or M.E./M. Tech (Chemical Engineering) from a recognised University/Institute, and NET/GATE qualified or any other relevant equivalent test.
Principal Investigator:
Dr. S. Saravanamurugan, Scientist – F
Research Assignment:
Catalysts synthesis and modifications, characterisations and transforming bio-based substrates to value-added products using catalytic approaches, including thermo, photo- and bio-catalysis.
