About the Job
You will join the R&D team and contribute to analytical method development, compound quantification, microbial characterisation, and experimental workflows that directly support green hydrogen innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise analytical methods, including HPLC-based compound separation, quantitation, and metabolite profiling
- Perform GC-based analysis for volatile compounds, solvents, gases, and metabolic intermediates
- Conduct mass balance analysis on complex waste streams to identify and quantify organic acids, sugars, volatile fatty acids, phenolics, and other industrial metabolites
- Perform microbial characterisation, including morphological, biochemical, and electrochemical profiling for target strains
- Execute microbial cultivation, strain screening, and assay-based testing
- Prepare culture media, buffers, standards, and calibration curves for analytical workflows
- Interpret chromatograms and analytical data to determine unknown components in complex matrices (e.g., wastewater, industrial effluents, fermentation broths)
- Identify experimental bottlenecks, troubleshoot analytical issues, and propose method improvements
- Take ownership of small technical investigations or innovation projects under ongoing programs
- Maintain organised lab notebooks, analytical records, and documentation for compliance and reproducibility
- Participate in experiment design, reactor setup, and data-based decision making
What We’re Looking For
- Background in Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences
- Hands-on experience with HPLC is highly preferred; experience with GC, IC, TOC, or LC-MS is a significant plus
- Ability to determine compound profiles and perform compositional analysis in complex samples
- Strong analytical mindset, troubleshooting skills, and ability to perform quantitative reasoning
- Familiarity with microbial electrolysis cells (MECs), chemical assays, or industrial effluent analysis is advantageous
- Strong documentation habits, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Self-driven individuals eager to learn, contribute, and propose improvements
