About the Position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer – Relief Systems to join the Operations team. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business
requirements.Key responsibilities
- The Process Engineer will be a member of the Process Engineering team in the Chevron ENGINE. The role provides process engineering support for relief system calculations, analysis and evaluations, modeling and design support to Chevron’s Refining, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), and Specialty Chemicals Production assets. Relief assessments are typically driven by the following: evaluation of existing relief deficiencies, relief evaluations for local design modifications, relief evaluations for capital projects, and PHA/HAZOP developed scenarios. Collaboration with design modifications owners is critical early on to target an inherently safer design and minimize future rework. Engineers will interface directly with Chevron assets to provide an appropriate level of ownership and remote support.
- Provide day-to-day technical support for relief devices (PSVs, rupture discs) and flare systems across operating units, including troubleshooting operational issues, failures, and testing anomalies.
- Conduct and review PSV hydraulics studies, relief load calculations, and analysis to validate existing installations and support new projects or modifications in accordance with the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Reassess and validate existing pressure relief systems to ensure compliance with updated operating conditions, recent process modifications, or PHA/HAZOP recommendations.
- Perform core Process Engineering Design tasks to support project development and execution.
- Contribute to process design by applying engineering principles to optimize technologies and equipment across multiple facilities.
- Provide asset support, including troubleshooting relief/flare issues and MOC reviews.
- Develop and maintain detailed process simulation models to evaluate design alternatives and operating scenarios.
- Review and improve designs to enhance operability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Provide analytical support for complex troubleshooting and investigation efforts.
- Coordinate and participate in HAZOP studies to ensure process safety and risk mitigation.
- Apply process engineering and design principles to deliver high-quality and predictable designs on projects.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
Required Qualifications
- 3-7 years of process engineering experience in process design for complex process facilities, including refineries, petrochemical, or LNG facilities.
- Must have a Chemical Engineering degree, or similar, from an appropriate certified university.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of refinery, LNG, and specialty chemical process technologies will be highly regarded.
- Proficient in Pro II and/or Hysys and Flarenet, and Visual Flare modeling software.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards like API 520/521.
- Capable with PSPPM and iPRISM with a relief calculations database.
