Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in Chemistry will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic instruction, conducting impactful research, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic growth and accreditation activities
of the department. The role includes active participation in curriculum development, laboratory supervision, and supporting departmental initiatives to ensure excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions in assigned chemistry courses (Organic/Inorganic/Physical/Analytical/Applied Chemistry).
- Develop course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with program outcomes.
- Utilize innovative and technology-enabled teaching methodologies to enhance student learning.
- Evaluate and mentor students, maintain academic records, and ensure timely grading.
Research & Publications
- Undertake independent and collaborative research leading to high-quality publications in reputed journals.
- Apply for internal/external funding, participate in research projects, and guide undergraduate/postgraduate research.
- Present research outputs at academic conferences, seminars, and symposia.
Student Mentoring & Support
- Supervise student internships, dissertations, and scientific clubs.
- Provide academic and career counseling to students.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment for all students.
Departmental & Institutional Contributions
- Contribute to curriculum design, academic audits, and accreditation processes (e.g., NAAC/NBA).
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and institutional events.
- Support outreach activities, collaborations, and industry-academia partnerships.
Laboratory & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure proper functioning, maintenance, and safety compliance of chemistry laboratories.
- Train students and staff on safe handling and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or allied disciplines (or as per UGC/AICTE regulations).
- Strong academic record with NET/SLET qualification (where applicable).
- Demonstrated research potential with publications in indexed journals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use digital tools and LMS for teaching and assessment.
