CSIR-NCL Student Internship Training Program Guidelines 2025

The CSIR-NCL Internship Program aims to strengthen India’s R&D ecosystem by fostering young scientific talent. This initiative provides undergraduate (BE/B.Tech) and postgraduate (ME/M.Tech/M.Sc/M.Pharm) students with the opportunity to develop specialized research skills through guided projects and summer internships.

Students can work in diverse disciplines such as chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemical sciences, physics, polymers, materials, management, and other research areas relevant to CSIR-NCL. Internship duration ranges from 2 to 12 months, depending on project needs and mentor recommendations.

Fee and Accommodation Details:

There are no fees or stipends associated with the program. Selected interns must arrange their own travel, lodging, and meals. On-campus accommodation may be offered on a shared and first-come-first-served basis, subject to availability.

Documents Required Before Applying:

  • Soft copy of passport-sized photo (5–50 kB)
  • E-signature (5–25 kB)

At the time of joining, interns must provide:

  • A recommendation letter from their college or university on official letterhead.
  • A signed Intellectual Property (IP) Agreement form (available on the intern dashboard).
  • A cover letter from the NCL guide or project leader.

Duration of the Training Program:

  • Minimum duration: 2 months
  • Maximum duration: 12 months
  • Summer internships: 2–3 months
  • The duration may vary depending on project requirements and guide recommendations.

How to Apply for the Internship:

  1. Identify a guide or scientist at CSIR-NCL with whom you wish to work.

  2. Search by Area of Research, Section, or Department.
  3. Submit a hard copy of the application form along with the recommendation letter and IP form 2–3 weeks before the joining date.
  4. Applications can be made at any time of the year; shortlisting is based on the availability of internship positions.
