Job Purpose
As a Scientist II at Valvoline India, you’ll work on new product development, process improvement, and laboratory innovation. This Scientist job involves advancing research in organic and lubricant chemistry to create next-generation solutions that strengthen Valvoline’s R&D leadership. You’ll contribute to breakthrough projects that enhance efficiency, safety, and performance across products.
Responsibilities
- Understand the project requirements and perform a Literature search using SciFinder, and other methods like STN, journal search, etc.
- To perform all sorts of reactions with hazardous/Non-hazardous reaction chemicals in the laboratory safely for the development of products. To perform high-pressure reactions both at the small and kilogram scale.
- Process development and process optimization of the lead molecule, a cost reduction approach.
- Hands-on experience in Gas chromatography, high-pressure liquid chromatography, Liquid chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
- Proper handling and taking care of Laboratory equipment, which includes maintenance, and dealing with vendors for annual maintenance contracts.
- Vendor scouting for chemicals procurement, price reduction, and working closely with the procurement team.
- Write review reports summarizing the data.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
Requirements
- Master of Science in organic chemistry/ M.Tech in oils, fats, and Lubricant chemistry/PhD in organic chemistry.
- Candidates with lubricant chemistry backgrounds are preferred but not mandatory.
- Postgraduate students should have industrial experience of a minimum of 8 years.
- After a PhD with a minimum of 2-4 years of industrial experience or 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience.
- Synthetic chemistry knowledge.
- Knowledge of Spectroscopic methods like GC/LC-MS/NMR/Cyclic voltammetry.
- Knowledge of Lubricant chemistry is preferred but not mandatory.
- Good communication, preparing laboratory reports, and good interpersonal skills.
