About CSIR-IHBT:
CSIR-IHBT, a premier research institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is dedicated to Himalayan bioresource innovation and advanced scientific studies. The institute invites eligible candidates to apply for the AcSIR Ph.D. Chemistry Research Programme for the January 2026 session.
Eligibility Criteria for PhD Admissions:
Educational Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in science with a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) or equivalent grade for General (UR)/General-EWS candidates, and 50% marks (without rounding off) or equivalent grade for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/Third gender/Persons with Disability (PwD).
OR - 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme with a minimum of 75% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and 70% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/Third gender/PwD candidates.
National-Level Fellowship:
Applicants must hold a valid national-level fellowship such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, DST, INSPIRE, RGNF, GPAT, GATE, or BET.
Eligible Disciplines:
Chemical Sciences: Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry.
Eligibility for Project Assistants/Associates:
- Project Assistants/Associates working at CSIR-IHBT for at least one year in sanctioned R&D projects may apply with permission from their PI and concurrence of the Director.
- Those without a national-level qualification must have at least one publication in a SCI-indexed journal as a co-author with substantial contribution.
- Candidates who have passed national-level exams such as NET-LS, GATE, BET, and JEST are exempt from the publication requirement.
- After project completion, candidates may continue their Ph.D. without a fellowship upon approval by the Director.
CSIR Group III/IV staff meeting educational criteria may also apply, with approval from the Lab Director and a NOC from the employer.
