Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering; Packaging-specific roles require a degree in Engineering or Packaging-related fields.
- 2-5 years professional experience in the Food/Beverage or CPG industry; 1-2 years in Product Development or Specification Writing.
- Leadership experience in engaging senior stakeholders or leading small teams.
- Proven ability to teach, coach, or mentor others technically.
- Experience with technology system conversion/implementation is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, data management, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quick to learn new systems.
- Understanding of Food Safety, Microbiology, and Regulatory Affairs for formula and ingredient specifications.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills across global teams.
- Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is preferred for MBS locations.
Overview
The Specification Management Senior Analyst supports the R&D Specifications Management teams in Hyderabad Business Services (HBS) and ensures the delivery of high-quality services globally. This role involves technical expertise to develop, maintain, and manage formula, ingredient, and packaging specifications, while fostering supplier relationships and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver system and process training, becoming proficient in Spec Systems and associated IT applications.
- Attain certification as a Spec Writer to the Global Ingredient Standard.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend upskilling initiatives to R&D GBS leadership.
- Mentor junior Spec Writing Analysts, where applicable.
- Develop and update ingredient and packaging specifications to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Uphold Ingredient, Supplier, Formula, and Packaging Standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with in-market R&D teams, other GBS teams, and external suppliers.
- Support multiple disciplines including Product Development, Food Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Supplier Quality Assurance.
- Manage supplier communications, collect data, and ensure timely follow-ups to ensure complete specifications are met.
- Initiate material testing requests for Foods & Beverages and validate quality parameters.
- Maintain and update specifications in legacy and current systems (Product Vision / SAP).
- For Packaging Specifications: conduct Individual Component Specification (ICS) reviews and manage supplier approvals.
- Ensure timely processing and documentation in line with SLAs.
- Proactively assess and escalate critical issues to avoid material shortages or production delays.
