Job Description

Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the MoE-STARS funded project titled “Development of Mixed Phase Layered Oxide Cathodes for Sodium-Ion Batteries.” The JRF will contribute to the synthesis, structural/microstructural analysis, and electrochemical characterization of advanced inorganic materials for next-generation energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Synthesize inorganic materials relevant to sodium-ion battery cathodes.
  • Perform crystal structure and microstructure characterization using XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, etc.
  • Conduct basic electrochemistry studies to evaluate material performance.
  • Assist in project documentation, reporting, and dissemination of research findings.
  • Collaborate with the research team and contribute to publications.

Qualifications

  • MSc/MTech in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Ceramics Engineering, Polymer Science, or Solid State Physics.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with NET/GATE qualification.
  • Desirable expertise in:
    • Synthesis of inorganic materials.
    • Crystal/microstructure determination (XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman).
    • Basic electrochemical characterization.

Stipend

  • ₹37,000/- per month + HRA (if applicable) as per government norms.

Conditions

  • Tenure: Initially for one year, extendable until 29th May 2027 based on performance.
  • Accommodation: May be provided as per institute rules; HRA applicable if housing not provided.
  • Opportunity to apply for a regular PhD position after qualifying departmental screening.
