Job Description
As a QC Executive/Sr. As an executive at Sika, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in the testing and release of raw materials, packaging materials, intermediates, and finished goods at the Turbhe plant in Navi Mumbai. You will oversee laboratory operations, supervise testing activities, maintain accurate records, and drive continual improvements in quality control processes. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to ISO and EHS standards, and active participation in audits, customer complaint handling, and root cause analysis. You will play a critical role in maintaining product quality, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the introduction of new products at the plant level.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and supervise testing of mortar, flooring, and related materials (RM and PM) as per R&D specifications.
- Test intermediates and finished products as per R&D specifications.
- Record test results in hard and soft copies.
- Perform statistical data analysis and implement process improvements.
- Authorize and execute RM/PM/FG release in ERP.
- Generate non-conforming material notes for rejected materials.
- Modify first-time failure batches as per R&D guidelines.
- Ensure nonconforming materials are correctly labeled.
- Verify use of approved vendors for raw materials.
- Follow the ‘Monitoring and Measurement of Product Procedure’ as per the Quality Manual.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab testing equipment.
- Handle customer complaints and perform RCA to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and EHS Standards at the tolling facility.
- Assist the technical team in establishing new products at the plant level.
- Ensure compliance with audits in the laboratory.
- Continuously improve testing procedures of raw, packing, and finished goods.
- Assist Procurement/R&D in new raw material/packing material/vendor development.
- Conduct process audits and ensure that corrective actions are taken for non-conformances.
- Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to the 5S principles in the lab.
- Coordinate with tolling units for QC operations, new product setups, and reporting.
- Train plant lab staff on quality and safety topics.
- Ensure compliance with the Sika quality management system at the tolling location.
- Monitor overall operations at the tolling location.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Chemistry with 2 to 3 years of experience OR
- B.Sc. in Chemistry / Diploma in Civil with 3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant field or working in a Quality Control Lab in a Construction Chemicals/Chemical Manufacturing company.
- Knowledge of ERP/SAP.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices with a safety-first mindset.
- Strong understanding of routine QC methods, procedures, and equipment handling.
- Knowledge of IMS (Integrated Management System).
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer skills.
- Self-starter, analytical mindset, and team player.
