Job Description:
The Medicinal Chemistry Scientist will be responsible for performing synthetic chemistry reactions, documenting observations, and contributing to the success of ongoing discovery projects. The role requires adherence to Syngene’s safety and quality standards, with a strong emphasis on compliance, precision, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform synthetic chemistry reactions, reaction workups, purification of compounds via chromatography, crystallization, recrystallization, and preparative TLC.
- Ensure analytical testing, documentation, and reporting of results to supervisors or group leaders.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks or e-notebooks with accurate and confidential data.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments and report any breakdowns.
- Follow EHS guidelines, MSDS protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct waste segregation per EHS norms.
- Participate in safety and integrity training programs.
- Maintain confidentiality of research activities at all times.
Qualifications:
- Education: M.Sc/M.Pharma or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry.
- Experience: 2–12 years of relevant experience in chemical synthesis.
- Skills: Strong understanding of chemical synthesis concepts, ability to operate relevant laboratory instruments and equipment, with adherence to GMP/GLP practices.
