Core Purpose of the Role
As a Synthetic Chemistry Scientist, you will conduct chemical reactions, develop target compounds within tight timelines, and solve organic synthesis challenges independently. You will maintain high standards of safety, data integrity, and quality while ensuring productivity goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform organic synthesis reactions, reaction workups, and compound purification using column chromatography, crystallization, re-crystallization, preparative TLC, and other methods.
- Submit synthesized samples for analysis, document results, and update supervisors or team leaders.
- Maintain detailed experimental records in compliance with Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) policies.
- Ensure timely delivery of compounds while meeting productivity metrics (# of compounds/month, # of steps/month).
- Apply strong analytical interpretation and purification skills to ensure high-quality output.
- Adhere to EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) guidelines, including chemical SDS awareness and waste segregation protocols.
- Follow all mandatory training requirements, ensuring compliance with Syngene’s safety and quality standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of project and client-related data at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
- Experience: 2–12 years in synthetic organic chemistry, with proven ability to solve synthesis problems independently
