Job Description:
The Country Clinical Operations Manager at AbbVie Bangalore leads Site Management and Monitoring (SMM) activities within India. This role is responsible for driving the execution of clinical trials on time, within budget, and in compliance with global and local standards. The manager provides strategic oversight, supports regulatory alignment, and ensures continuous improvement across clinical field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee country/district clinical trial activities, including site feasibility, selection, activation, contracts, regulatory submissions, monitoring, and closure
- Ensure on-time and budget-compliant execution of all clinical studies in India
- Provide expertise on local regulatory and legal requirements, ensuring adherence to GCP, ICH guidelines, SOPs, and quality standards
- Monitor regulatory reforms and industry trends to implement changes affecting clinical studies
- Maintain audit and inspection readiness; manage CAPA implementation
- Lead recruitment, resource allocation, and staff retention plans
- Manage functional budgets and operational planning
- Foster a high-performing workforce, providing coaching, mentoring, and leadership
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation through KPI analysis and process simplification
- Lead or participate in global initiatives, task forces, and external industry collaborations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in the medical, scientific, nursing, or pharmacy field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of site monitoring experience, preferably managing studies from start to finish in a country
- Experience in functional budget planning, resource allocation, and quality management
- At least 2 years of line management experience, including talent acquisition, coaching, and employee development
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with flexibility in dynamic environments
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas and study phases preferred
- Demonstrates business ethics, integrity, and leadership
