Eligibility Criteria & Experience :
Education: Ph.D. with 2-4 years of relevant industrial experience, M.Tech. with 5+ years of industrial experience
- Subject Specialty: Materials Science, Chemical engineering, Chemistry & Physics, preferably from the specialty Chemical / advanced materials industry
- Essential Attributes: Experience with new product development for industrial products – preferably in the field of materials science & specialty chemical industry
- Practical experience with innovation & project management
- Strong product development abilities
- Great attitude & forward-looking individual
Preferred Skills :
- Convert ideas to workable concepts and concepts to technical specifications to enable designing differentiated products and processes to meet consumer expectations within the prevailing regulatory framework.
- Conducting experiments requiring an understanding of basic science principles.
- Interpret experimental results, develop Internal systems and procedures and ensure proper documentation of all the scientific and technical work
- Capability to summarize experimental findings and conclude on different sets of larger experiments
- At a higher level, planning experiments based on the results of iterations of experiments done.
- Identifying and using resources wisely.
- Greater familiarity of related work areas and capacity to suggest business process improvements.

- Synthesis of chlorosilanes, trichrosilanes, & silicon tetrachloride, polysiloxanes etc
Material Characterization: - Detailed characterization and data analysis of silane, siloxane and silicone-based materials
- Formulations & Application development of Siloxanes:
- Build derivatives of siloxanes for product applications in heat transfer fluids, as performance additives, protective paints and coatings etc.
Job Description:
Silicones are commercially produced from silicon and methyl chloride in a process known as the “direct reaction” or the “Rochow- Muller direct process. Silicones are highly valued materials because they have a combination of physical properties not found in other polymers. They have outstanding heat stability and can be used in applications where organic materials would melt or decompose. Many silicones are resistant to the effects of aging, weather, sunlight, moisture, heat, cold, and some chemical assaults.
This role would focus on understanding and further improvising Muller-Rochow processes for synthesis of chlorosilanes & polysiloxanes. Through surface chemistry studies, various formulations of polysiloxanes building blocks must be developed for delivering value added industrial applications.
Role and Responsibilities:
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
- Detailed understanding of improvised versions of the Muller-Rochow process for the synthesis of chlorosilanes and polysiloxanes, adopted by various leading manufacturers. Prepare detailed reports and make presentations.
- Understanding the siloxane and polysiloxane chemistries, including cyclic, linear, branched & cross-linked networks. Prepare detailed reports and make presentations.
- Understand chemical behavior and physical properties of silanols. Prepare detailed reports and make presentations.
- Lab formulations of silicones from siloxanes in a variety of physical forms ranging from solids and semi-viscous pastes to liquids and oils.
- Detailed characterization and & study characteristics such as flexibility, resistance to moisture, stability, inertness, permeability to gases, etc
- Formulate series of organo-polysiloxanes building blocks and derivatives of silicones for product applications in emulsions, antifoams, pastes, lubricants, resins, elastomers, adhesives and coatings.
- Develop specific formulations for high-temperature heat transfer fluids, protective paints and coatings, performance additives for cosmetics, healthcare, construction, consumer and automotive applications
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- The individual in this role will design & develop new product/innovations in the area of performance materials science.
- Must have strong industry experience in product development by conceiving new ideas, and conducting research with detailed analysis, where technical and scientific answers are needed to support new product development.He/she must facilitate a fundamental
- understanding of the structural components and physicochemical properties of the developed materials and its varied applications.
- The individual in this position is to demonstrate the understanding of the basic principles of material science & it’s formulation to be used in applications like advanced composites, functional coatings, ultra-high strength material, self-healing materials and, advanced encapsulation techniques etc
- Conduct laboratory experiments, tests, operate various characterization equipment in evaluation of synthesized materials.
- Independently demonstrate the ability to deliver projects within agreed time and budget
- In a project leadership capacity, the candidate is expected to plan, develop, coordinate, and execute a number of significant projects.
- Focus constantly on new innovation opportunities in the chosen field of research and find the quick solution to the business requirement.
