Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering/
• Instrumentation & Control Systems, Chemistry or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Working knowledge of measurement principles for a variety of common process analyzers in the petrochemical industry.
• Able to engineer solutions for analyzer systems. This includes sampling type and tubing size selection, response time calculation, sample conditioning design and instruments selection, standard test methods requirements and analyzer selection.
• Experience in performing analyzer engineering calculations (e.g. lag time, probe wake frequency, ventilation requirements, phase envelopes etc.)
• Knowledgeable in key chemicals processes (or refinery) and associated analyzer applications
• Familiarity with field and online analyzer equipment from a variety of vendors (e.g. Siemens, Yokogawa, ABB),
• Knowledgeable in analyzer communication/transmission protocol and networking consideration for interface to Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Understanding of product quality measurement and quality assurance system design and requirements. Familiarity with Industry standards related to quality measurements and assurance (e.g. ASTM, ISO etc.) .
• Experience in projects, working with system integrators is an advantage.

Purpose:

The primary role of the position is to carry out all aspects of maintenance, modification, calibration and testing of online process analyzers. Apart from performing specialized instrumentation troubleshooting and drafting the PM procedures for plant online process analyzers, the candidate will also need to be able to engineer solutions for analyzer systems, from sampling and sample conditioning system up to the analyzer itself.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Identify analyzer bad actors and repeat problems via data provided by Maintenance and Operations.
• Conduct routine monitoring and provide maintenance recommendations to provide the highest possible availability/operation of all analyzer systems
• Ensure and improve the reliability of analyzer data systems
• Provide support of analyzer data systems including assisting Digital group in troubleshooting analyzer network.
• Conduct and support Internal and External audits.
• Determine analyzer equipment target performance and define acceptable control limits and validation schemes, schedules, and standards to be used.
• Develop and maintain evergreen 5-year analyzer replacement plans for obsolete analyzers.
• Work with Operations, Environmental, Business, and other site disciplines as needed to address their long-term analyzer needs and recommends an appropriate solution.
• Develop and maintain analyzer Quality System Plans (QSP) / ISO documents and work processes.
• Review and optimize analyzer performance, review analyzer PM’s and validation schedules.
• Lead root cause analysis studies on analyzer-related problems.
• Support analyzer-related turnaround activities such as work letter planning and assisting with shutting down and restarting analyzers.
• Represent Analyzer Technical Group in MTA and Reliability Meetings.
