National Brain Research Centre is a premier institute in India dedicated to Neuroscience Research and Education. APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR CANDIDATES WITH GATE SCORE (GATE-2020/GATE-2021)

For the Ph.D. programme, NBRC accepts applications from GATE qualified candidates (with 85 percentile or more in GATE 2021/2022) in Chemistry

ELIGIBILITY

Ph.D. (Neuroscience)

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy should meet the following criteria –

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / M.Sc. Degree in Psychology from a recognized Institute / University.
  • You are also eligible if you have completed a minimum of a four-year course leading to Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
  • At least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or an equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards is required.
  • Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION OF FOREIGN NATIONALS

Foreign nationals seeking admission to NBRC must fulfil all the eligibility requirements for Ph.D./M.Sc. described above.

In addition, they must satisfy all the conditions as per rules of Govt. of India.

RECOGNIZED NATIONAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR PH.D. AT NBRC

Ph.D (Neuroscience)

  • Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS December 2021) (To be held on 12th December, 2021).
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2021/GATE-2022) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2022) (for Physics).
  • CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics. Validity of the fellowship should be such that it can be activated on 31st August, 2022 or later.
  • UGC-NET JRF qualified on / after Dec 2020.

Based on their performance in any of the above qualifying examinations, candidates will be short-listed for interviews to be held at NBRC.

How To Apply

Step 1: Check if you fulfill the minimum criteria for admission to the NBRC Ph.D. programme here

Step 2: Qualify the GATE examination in one of the subjects mentioned above.

Step 3: Apply to NBRC Ph.D. programme here before 31st March 2021 You will require your Roll No. for the GATE examination, which you received on applying for the GATE examination. You will also require your GATE score to apply.

Step 4: Pay the required amount of fee as described here

Apply Offline (by post/courier)

NBRC prefers online applications. If you are unable or unwilling to apply online, you can apply offline.

Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain an application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, please send a self-addressed A-4 size envelope to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122052 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana) indicating –

  • The programme to which they wish to apply.
  • The channel through which they wish to apply if applying for the Ph.D. programme.
  • The last date of receipt of requests for a hard copy of the application form at NBRC is 1st March 2022.

The last date for receipt of the (Online/Offline) application form at NBRC is 31st March 2022.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR CANDIDATES WHO QUALIFIED NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS

NBRC accepts applications for the Ph.D. program (2022) from the candidates who qualified (JRF) Examination in CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR or UGC-NET with Chemistry.

How To Apply:

Step 1: Check if you fulfill the minimum criteria for admission to the NBRC Ph.D. program here

Step 2: Qualify one of the examinations mentioned above. The Junior Research Fellowship should be valid to be activated on 31st August 2022 or later. UGC-NET Lectureship candidates should have qualified for the exam on/after Dec 2020.

Step 3: Apply to NBRC Ph.D. programme here before 31st March 2022 You will require details such as your Roll No., date of examination, award letter along its validity period.

Step 4: Pay the required amount of fee as described here

Payment Procedure

For those applying online:

The online applicants should submit the application fee through ‘SB Collect’ of State Bank of India, the web link for which will be available in the last step of the online application process.

For those applying offline (by post/courier):

The application fee should be submitted by a Demand Draft drawn in favor of the Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar.

Please write your name and program applied for on the back of the Demand Draft. Also mention your Reference Code / Registration No. / Roll No. for the qualifying JGEEBILS / JEST / GATE / UGC-NET JRF (CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR) examination.

GATE and JRF candidates should also mention the year of the examination on the back of the demand draft.

Send the completed application along with the demand draft to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122052 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).

Note:

No application fee will be applicable for such JRF candidates who have applied/are applying through JGEEBILS / JEST / GATE channels. However, they need to fill in a separate application form to be considered in both channels.

The last date for receipt of the (Online/Offline) application form at NBRC is 31st March 2022.

  • Interview for the M.Sc. program: May 2022
