Merck is looking for individuals with a strong passion for Organometallic/synthetic organic chemistry, good knowledge of literature search (reaxys/Scifinder etc.), synthetic route design, working experience on discovery research and development, execution of multistep synthetic chemistry including the ability to independently conduct the analysis and accurately interpret analytical data with the help of available analytical instruments.

Your role:
- Planning and conducting experiments in the laboratory and systematic documentation of synthetic procedures, observations and characterization data/QC analysis inappropriate report format (e.g., Lab Notebook, Project Files, procedures and analytical data write-up). Developing original solutions to the problems, and he/she should have strong troubleshooting skills, keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
- Candidates should be well versed with synthesis of a wide variety of organic molecules from mill-to-kilogram scale. He/she will be responsible for deliveries on high-quality products within the committed timelines. Maintains laboratory equipment, workplace and stocks supplies, verifies inventories and orders fresh stocks as required.
- Survey Literature for current synthetic routes & techniques in areas of interest to the new products.
- Liaise with academics & companies to develop technology / assist in technology transfer into the company, where appropriate. Work closely with QC, product manager, technical service, marketing, sourcing for new product introduction & innovation.
- Reviews inventory, raw material planning and ordering, schedules or demand and changes in priority of work as necessary. Communicates results to supervisors/team leader.
The ideal candidate must be a good team player and confers with senior counterparts before making significant changes to documented procedures. Organize product (material) testing as per required quality standards/specifications and ensures the quality of finished products is met and SAP confirmation as per SOP.
Eligibility:
Preferably M.Sc./Ph.D. experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry/Organometallic chemistry with 4-6 years’ experience in discovery Chemistry/CRO and related industry. We anticipate the suitable candidate must have good scientific publication in global journals & patents.
Experience:
The suitable candidate should be an expert in Organometallic/ Synthetic Organic Chemistry with relevant Laboratory scale experience of design, development, and optimization of organometallic chemistries, novel synthesis route exploration with good knowledge in related analysis, interpretation, and characterization of synthesized compounds/ligands using modern spectroscopic techniques e.g. NMR, LCMS, IR, SOR etc. He/ She must be well versed with modern organometallic reaction, isolation and purification techniques e.g. distillation, crystallization, automated column purification, etc.
Candidate with a proven track record of high performance, innovative and positive mind-set with strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills will be preferred. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ChemDraw, and other advanced digital tools.
The candidate must have good interpersonal skills (communication & presentation) and he/she should be able to communicate results of lab work to the team lead and other internal customers, appropriately and timely.
