Job Title: Project PA-I

Job Location: School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi

Project Description:

  • Applications are invited on plain paper for the following post in an ANRF-sponsored project, “Investigation of the spatio-temporal variation of the methane emission from three natural sub-tropical wetlands within NCR of Delhi and the influencing factors”.

Essential Qualification:

  • Candidate should have an M.Sc. degree in Environmental Science/Botany/Chemical Science/Earth Sciences or equivalent with a good academic record and experience in Environmental field work/soil, water, plant sample analysis.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Candidates with Environmental fieldwork/Soil analysis anions and cations through IC, physiochemical properties of soil and water, analysis of gas samples from plants and wetland sediments through GC, along with proficiency in GIS tools, in addition to the above-mentioned essential qualifications, would be preferred. Candidates unwilling to perform field collection of samples under wetland and marshy conditions, should not apply.

Salary:

  • Rs. 37,000 + 30% HRA (candidates with CSIR-UGC NET including LS or GATE)
  • or 30,000 + 30% HRA per month (candidates without CSIR-UGC NET including LS or GATE) (Please refer ANRF/OM/N-01/2024 dated 14th Oct 2024).

Nature and Tenure of the Position:

  • The position is purely temporary in nature and subject to the availability of funds.
  • To undertake sampling and analysis of ambient air samples/data collection and detailed analysis of soil, water and gas from three wetlands in NCR of Delhi using respective analytical techniques, field observations, usage of basic geospatial tools for mapping and performing estimation of methane emission through modeling, leading to publications.
  • The position will be co-terminus with the tenure of the project (i.e., approx. 34 months from May 2026). However, if the fellow’s progress is unsatisfactory, his/her services may be terminated from the project at any time.
