Chemical Engineering Jobs at IIT Hyderabad | Apply Now For The Junior Research Fellow Role

IIT Hyderabad is inviting applications for the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Department of Chemical Engineering under an ANRF-funded project. The research focuses on the self-assembly of colloids to design lightweight solid foams with advanced mechanical and thermal properties. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or chemistry to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.

  • Job Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
  • Location: IIT Hyderabad, Telangana, India

About the Institute:

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is one of India’s leading research and innovation-driven institutes. Known for interdisciplinary projects and global collaborations, IIT Hyderabad provides a vibrant environment for scholars to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to impactful scientific advancements.

Job Description:

The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will work on the project “Self-assembly of colloids in designing lightweight solid foams” funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The project involves the freezing-induced self-assembly of shape-anisotropic colloidal particles to study how particle geometry, concentration, and freezing conditions influence the structure and properties of the resulting foam. The goal is to correlate microstructural features with mechanical and thermal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a synthesis of colloidal building blocks and polymers.
  • Perform assembly and freezing-induced self-assembly experiments.
  • Characterize microstructures using optical microscopy, SEM, X-ray tomography, and image analysis.
  • Analyze mechanical and thermal performance using UTM, rheometry, and thermogravimetric testing.
  • Contribute to departmental publications and collaborative research projects.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • M.Tech/ME in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Biotechnology, Materials Science & Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • MSc in Physics/Physical Chemistry.
  • Exceptional B.Tech graduates in the above fields are also encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum CGPA: 6.0 (or 60%) and above in all qualifying degrees.

Desirable:

  • Experience with the synthesis of colloidal particles and handling polymers.
  • Hands-on expertise in characterization techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, and rheometry.

Age Limit: 35 years (relaxable as per norms).

Appointment Period: 12 months (extendable based on performance).

Pay: As per the Govt. of India and ANRF norms (₹37,000 + HRA per month).

Application Process:

Interested candidates must submit their application through the Google Form. Applicants should upload the following documents in a single PDF:

  1. Cover letter describing background and project suitability.
  2. Latest CV.
  3. A one-page statement of interest.

Selection Process:
