Role Purpose for Deputy Manager Global Medical: 

  • This role is responsible for generating, modifying, repurposing, and escalating high quality medical/ scientific content for Viatris Innovation assets in a timely manner and in collaborative partnership with the medical team.
  • This role also provides additional content support, including editing, proof reading, reviewing, referencing, and verifying anti-plagiarism of the content by implementing high quality medical writing standards.
  • This role ensures that operational deliverables of assigned projects are achieved on or ahead of schedule and within standards such that they meet the desired outcomes (i.e. quality standard, value) and business deliverables

Key Responsibilities

Scientific and Medical Content Development:

  • Utilizes scientific expertise to create high-quality scientific and medical communication deliverables in CV and Rheumatology/Lupus.
  • Edits, writes, researches, organizes, compiles, interprets, curates, and quality checks various types of medical content across multiple channels and formats as Deputy Manager.

Literature Reviews and Evidence Mapping:

  • Conducts comprehensive literature reviews by developing effective search strategies to retrieve relevant literature from the public domain.
  • Develops patient journey evidence maps to support various medical communication needs as Deputy Manager.

Document Assessment and Development:

  • Assesses document requirements, gauge complexity, and identify information gaps.
  • Interprets, synthesizes, and presents clinical data and other complex information for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) assessments.

Congress Support:

  • Supports the development of medical booths at major congresses, specifically for CV and Rheumatology/Lupus as Deputy Manager.
  • Manages booth design, set-up, communication materials development, and requisite approvals.

Content Review and Quality Assurance:

  • Reviews medical content and promotional materials in accordance with internal SOPs and external guidelines.
  • Verifies references and ensures medical content is free from plagiarism.
  • Ensures clear, factual, and effective presentation of analyses and associated discussions in assigned documents as Deputy Manager.
  • Develops, maintains, and uses necessary templates, formats, and styles to ensure compliance with industry, internal, and medical team requirements.

Project Management and Communication:

  • Delivers assigned documents on or before deadlines, alerting project teams of any anticipated delays, information gaps, or potential quality issues.
  • Prioritizes and multitasks to enhance productivity and manage workload within the team.
  • Communicates project progress to cross-functional teams under supervision from the line manager as Deputy Manager.
  • Ensures quality standards are met and optimize efficiency.
  • Coordinates approvals according to internal requirements.

Quality Control and Vendor Liaison:

  • Conducts quality control assessments of assigned deliverables as required.
  • Liaises with external vendors to build a roster of preferred agencies to support medical communication needs as Deputy Manager.

Others:

  • Mentorship – actively mentors’ colleagues within the team for effective execution of assigned tasks and goals
  • Keeps abreast of current literature, emerging science, publishing industry landscape and medical trends for enhancing publication metrics through internal process improvements as Deputy Manager.

  • Collaborates with other lines, relevant subject matter experts and external agencies ensuring the accuracy and quality of information presented in assigned documents.
  • Assists in coordinating activities of other team members to ensure the quality and accuracy of their contributions as Deputy Manager.
  • Promotes and reinforces Viatris medical communication standards and policies.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s degree required with specialization of Pharmaceutical or Medical Science
  • 5 years of Medical Writing Experience
  • 5 years of Reviewing of Promotional and Non-Promotional material
  • Knowledge of “pharmaceutical medicine” including clinical pharmacology, medical and paramedical sciences, medicine and medical statistics, and Viatris Therapeutic Area/Products as Deputy Manager.
  • Expertise in Cardiovascular and Rheumatology/ Lupus Therapy areas
  • Familiarity with epidemiological principles and concepts is desirable, especially strong literature review and data synthesis skills.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as OvidSP and other bibliographic databases such as PubMed, Medline, Embase and Biosis
  • Previous experience with software commonly used to conduct medical review of promotional materials is preferred.
  • Previous experience with software commonly used to present and analyze data and experience with searching academic databases. (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is preferred.
  • Language skills: High fluency in written English and strong functional fluency in spoken English .
  • Personal skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Detail oriented and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Digital skills: Understanding of digital content development and associated concepts is beneficial (heuristics, user experience, etc.) is desired.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with global regulatory guidance (especially ICH, FDA and EMA) relevant to clinical and safety data.
