MID-YEAR ADMISSIONS 2024-25
JNCASR invites applications for admission to Research Programmes [Ph.D./M.S.(Engg.)/M.S.(Research)] in Sciences and Engineering from candidates who have qualified in any one of the national exams: GATE/JEST/GPAT/UGC-JRF/ CSIR-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE-JRF.
Applicants are advised to visit the website https://www.jncasr.ac.in/admission/degree-programmes for detailed information about the programmes, eligibility criteria, etc. The last date for submission of online applications is 08.11.2024.
MID-YEAR RESEARCH ADMISSIONS 2024-25
Guidelines for Candidates:
Applications are invited from eligible applicants for admissions to Research Programmes [(Ph.D./ M.S(Engg.)/M.S(Research)] offered by the following units:
- Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU)
- Engineering Mechanics Unit (EMU)
- Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU)
- New Chemistry Unit (NCU)
Applicants with the required educational qualifications, including those in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations who expect to complete all requirements (examinations, project dissertations, viva-voce, etc.) by 31.12.2024 and can furnish necessary certificates by 01 January 2025, are eligible to apply.
RESEARCH PROGRAMMES [Ph.D. / M.S(Engg.) / M.S(Research)]
A. Eligibility
Candidates with an M.Sc. or equivalent, B.E./B.Tech./B.S (4 years) or
equivalent, M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent, or MBBS/MD as applicable to individual units are eligible to apply.- Candidates with an M.Sc. or equivalent, M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent should have at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale.
- Candidates seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale.
Candidates should also have qualified in any one of the national exams: GATE, JEST, GPAT, UGC-JRF, CSIR-NET-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, INSPIRE-JRF. The award certificate for these tests should be valid as of 1st January 2025. For M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent degree holders, qualifying in the national exam is desirable.
B. Selection Procedure
Candidates are shortlisted for an interview based on their performance in national exams and academic record. Selection is based on performance in the interview, with an aptitude test/preliminary interview possibly preceding the final interview in some units.

Applications for all degree programmes are available online. Only online applications will be considered.
APPLICATION FEE
- The application fee is Rs.750/- and is non-refundable.
- Payment is to be made to the JNCASR bank account through NEFT. Service charges, if any, must be borne by the applicant.

- Application Submission Deadline: 08.11.2024 (website closes at 23:59 hours)
Fellowships
All regular students joining JNCASR are eligible for fellowships from JNCASR, CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, or INSPIRE, depending on their mode of entry.

Additional Information
- A relaxation of 5% marks or equivalent grade is available for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories.
- Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
