IMTECH AcSIR PhD Program 2022 Announced – Applications Invited
CSIR-IMTECH is a multidisciplinary institute with state of the art research facilities, and faculty with research interests in frontier areas of modern microbiology (please visit our website http://www.imtech.res.in for information on different areas and faculty activities). Openings are likely to be available in the following areas:
Eligibility Criteria:Â
1. Candidates with a Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.Tech/M.Pharm) with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks or equivalent in CGPA in any branch of Science or Technology OR B.Tech (in Information Technology/ Computer Sciences/ Biological Sciences or other branches with a special interest in Biology) OR B.Pharm OR B.E. OR MBBS candidates with at least 55 % (or equivalent in CGPA) may apply. The minimum aggregate of marks in the case of SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates is 50% (or equivalent in CGPA).
2. A valid Fellowship. Candidates having any of the valid fellowship from CSIR-UGC NET (NET-LS not eligible)/DBT-JRF examination (‘A’ Category only)/DST-INSPIRE Fellowship/ICMR-JRF examination are eligible to apply. Candidates selected for working only on ICMR Projects are not eligible. B.Tech/BE/B.Pharm students with valid GATE or GPAT scores must fulfill the conditions for the GATE-JRF fellowship
(https://csirhrdg.res.in/Home/Index/1/Default/2008/58). Admission of candidates havin
g DST-INSPIRE fellowship shall stand canceled in case candidate fails to obtain fellowship from DST. CSIR-IMTech will not provide any financial support to such candidates. Please note that valid proofs of Fellowship examinations are mandatory for appearing in the interview.3. Candidates must also state their present occupation, if any, in the AcSIR application. Any concealment may result in the cancellation of admission at any stage.
(Kindly note that those candidates who are waiting for results of qualifying examinations may also appear for an interview but their joining is subject to clearing the eligibility criteria.)
Selection Process
The eligible candidates will be called for an interview either in person at CSIR-IMTech, Chandigarh, or through online mode. The interview will be aimed at assessing the candidate’s knowledge, critical analysis, logical reasoning, and aptitude for scientific research. The result of the selected candidates will be declared on AcSIR website. The fee for the Ph.D. program is as per AcSIR fee structure.
In case the interviews are in person at CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, those appearing for the interview must be prepared to stay in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview.

Important to Note: In case of selection, admission of candidates shall be provisional subject to the condition that they shall obtain a fellowship for a period of five years from a funding agency. In case, candidates fail to receive a fellowship, admission stands canceled.

Residential Accommodation:
Separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls in the campus may be provided to the admitted candidates as per the availability.
The decision of the Director, CSIR-IMTECH, regarding the selection/admission of the candidates, shall be final.
