ExxonMobil Chemical Engineering Scientist Vacancy – Apply Online

ExxonMobil is looking to add mathematical optimization scientist to its team in India to work on challenging problems in broad set of oil and gas areas including geoscience, engineering, commercial, and low carbon solutions. Your main work will be implementing, customizing, adapting, deploying and supporting existing technologies and solutions for problems related to logistics optimization and simulation, planning and scheduling optimization, production optimization, economic modeling and analysis. You will be involved in multiple initiatives simultaneously with both business partners and optimization experts resulting in a dynamic work environment.

Job Title: Optimization Scientist

Location: Bengaluru, KA, IN

Eligibility Criteria:

Master’s degree from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, or other quantitative or computational disciplines with a minimum GPA 7.0 (out of 10.0) and above.

Experience in Operations Research, (Applied) Mathematics, (Applied) Statistics, Industrial Engineering or other quantitative engineering disciplines is an advantage.
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mathematical optimization implementation and support.

  • Experience with implementing solutions involving well-known commercial or large-scale optimization toolkits (e.g. CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress, NoMad, IPOpt) is required.
  • Experience in at least one programming language (e.g. C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.) or optimization modeling language (e.g., AIMMS, GAMS, AMPL, Mosel, OPL) is required.
    Required technical skills include linear programming and integer programming.
  • Experience in implementing and supporting large-scale discrete, non-linear, stochastic optimization and constraint programming models and developing efficient algorithms is an advantage.
  • Experience in large-scale deployment in cloud is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment is required.
  • Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry is not required but is an advantage.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Implement mathematical programming techniques along with domain knowledge and subject-specific models to solve science, engineering, logistics and commercial problems.
  • Work with oil & gas business partners and optimization experts to implement and support mathematical optimization models that enhance business decision-making capability and increase operating efficiency.
  • Contribute to multiple stages of decision model implementation, deployment and sustainment.
  • Implement optimization solutions to support decision-making using proprietary and vendor tools (e.g., AIMMS) as well as languages (e.g. Python, C#, C++, etc.)
  • Analyze mathematical optimization and simulation results and develop technical reports.
    Present to technical as well as the non-technical audience.
