Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in SAP
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-sufficient and able to execute a variety of priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision
- MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects or activities
- Communication, verbal and written
- Ability to interpret and apply multiple regulatory agency requirements

CONSIDERED A PLUS:
- HTS Classification including the ability to apply General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), research and interpret Customs rulings for determining the proper classification for chemicals

Job Mission
The Compliance Classification Analyst position is responsible for providing Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and support to Lubrizol’s supply chain operations on a global basis. This position coordinates with regional classification resources to ensure Lubrizol has a consistent classification process. Tariff classification includes raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. Classification functions impact compliance with governmental laws and regulations. The position is responsible for evaluating global Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualifications based on chemical reaction and blend rules.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Classification of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for LZA and LZAM divisions.
- Maintains a global database of HTS classifications including supporting documentation subject to customs audit.
- Audits SAP data and global classifications for consistency
- Responds to a government agency, customer, and regional inquiries regarding classification defense/support.
- Monitors SAP and provide timely release of order blocks related to missing commodity code
- Qualifies materials for FTA participation based on chemical reaction and blend rules
- Identifies and communicates to the business opportunities for cost savings related to tariff engineering
- Obtain Customs’ rulings as necessary
- Project support as required from Classification Manager
