Sun Pharma’s Dadra Unit Shut
After 18 Employees Tested COVID-19 Positive
With Sun Pharma’s 18 employees testing positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19 infection, the Dadra administration shuts Sun Pharma unit.
Collector Sandeepkumar Singh said that after 18 Sun Pharma employees tested positive for Covid-19, the district administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli slapped a closure notice on Sun Pharma company on Thursday evening.
The health department officials started tracing contacts and carried out Covid-19 testing after an employee working in the quality control department of the company located at Piparia village in Dadra and Nagar Haveli tested positive a couple of days ago.
Around 150 employees were quarantined in private hotels and hospitals in Silvassa after 17 employees being tested positive on Thursday evening. In the government hospital in Silvassa, the ones tested positive are undergoing treatment.
Additionally, on Friday, two employees of the Cadila Healthcare pharmaceutical unit also tested positive for coronavirus in Moriya village, Ahmedabad district. After 35 employees of Cadila Healthcare pharmaceuticals in the same district tested positive and three died, it was the first unit to be shut down previously.
From the industrial clusters, over 130 Covid cases have been reported in the Ahmedabad district alone
, with the majority of which are from pharmaceutical companies.The industrial cluster from Sanand or Bavla in Ahmedabad are the areas from where cases are currently being reported, according to officials.
The house and company premises of Sun Pharma has been disinfected by the authorities. Pharmaceutical drugs and Hydroxychloroquine tablets were being manufactured in the unit. District administration authorities have restricted the unit’s entry and exit points.
A press release stating that the unit was shut down and the production stopped due to the positive cases was issued by the company authorities on Thursday.
Around 50 coronavirus positive cases have been recorded in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
