R&D Chemist Job Description:
As a Chemist at MKS MSD, the selected candidate will partner with the Business Unit – CPP to support product development and associated activities. Reporting to the R&D Manager CRC, the role involves conducting R&D activities related to product development, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization. This R&D Chemist role requires collaboration with team members and cross-functional departments, as well as the ability to generate innovative ideas for successful task execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working in the laboratory to carry out on-the-bench experiments and in the pilot line to demonstrate feasibility and develop new products.
- Creating designs of experiments (DOE) and independently planning assigned projects using project management frameworks.
- Performing and executing assigned tasks in a timely and qualitative manner.
- Developing and modifying product formulations according to business requirements while utilizing appropriate literature and research.
- Collaborating with team members in a laboratory environment.
- Bringing an innovation mindset and creative strategies to enhance product and process efficiency.
- Interacting with cross-functional team members locally and globally.
- Maintaining confidentiality of projects and departmental information.
R&D Chemist Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 3 years of experience in chemical, electrochemical, polymer, physical, organic, inorganic, or surface treatment industries.
- M.Sc. educational background in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Inorganic Chemistry.
- Experience in chemical laboratories, developing formulations and products, and conducting qualifications.
- Basic understanding of solvents, polymers, reaction mechanisms, and molecular interactions.
- Proficiency in project management software and statistical applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JMP, and Minitab.
Required Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and document findings effectively.
- Creative and structured work style with a focus on innovation.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Experience with e-notebooks or ELN is an advantage.
