Job Description
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an Inorganic Chemist to join a global team of scientists at bp. The Applied Chemistry team plays a crucial role in meeting business needs and identifying opportunities where applied chemistry can add value across various sectors, including biofuels, hydrogen, and low-carbon initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, standards-adherent experimental operations aligned with bp’s HSSE expectations.
- Conduct fundamental and applied studies in chemistry and catalysis to support technology deployment.
- Lead experimental programmes in heterogeneous catalysis for conversion chemistry technology development.
- Design, execute, and interpret experimental work to achieve set objectives.
- Provide expertise in laboratory-scale evaluation and innovative analytical techniques.
- Identify and implement standard methodologies in chemistry to develop in-house capabilities.
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD in Chemistry or a related field, or a Master’s/Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
- Experience in chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, or related fields.
- Practical research experience in laboratory-scale reaction testing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to team success.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of key catalyst characterisation techniques.
- Ability to interpret and apply results effectively.
- Resourceful experimentalist with a proactive approach.
- Experience working with universities or third-party laboratories is desirable.
