Educational Requirements:

Candidates must be at least 21 years old and below 32 years old as on 1 January 2027. This means candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 January 1995 and not later than 1 January 2006.

Age relaxation specified in the UPSC notification includes:

  • OBC: up to 3 years
  • Eligible Government servants: up to 5 years
  • Eligible Defence Services Personnel: up to 3 years
  • Eligible Ex-Servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs: up to 5 years
  • Specified disability categories: up to 10 years, subject to the conditions in the notification.

Selection Process:

  • The Assistant Chemist selection is conducted in three stages:
  • Stage I – Preliminary Examination: Objective-type examination.
  • Stage II – Main Examination: Descriptive/conventional-type examination.
  • Stage III – Personality Test/Interview.

For the Chemistry stream, the Preliminary Examination consists of:
