About the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS)
The Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a specialized laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is dedicated to advancing the readiness, preparedness, and strategic resilience of the armed forces against radiological threats. The institute focuses on the development of radiation countermeasures with its mission of “Atom for Peace” and “Peace from Atom”. INMAS plays a critical role in quickly estimating absorbed radiation doses for effective triage and advising first responders and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) on immediate remedial actions. It also provides tailored cbRNe training modules for military, paramilitary, elite forces, and national organizations handling security crisis. 1. DRDO Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):

- Essential Qualification: First Class M.Sc. in Chemistry / Nanotechnology / Chemical Sciences / Computational Chemistry / polymer Sciences/ Material Sciences with NET (JRF/LS) qualification from any approved National agency
Or
First Class B.Tech with valid GATE score in Chemical Engineering
Or
M.E./M.Tech in Chemical Engineering in First Class at Graduate and Post Graduate level (M.E./M.Tech. is exempted from NET/GATE as per guidelines.) - Date of Interview: 22nd July 2026
2. SN Post Code: RA-02
- Post & Vacancy: Research Associate – 01 Position
- Subject / Discipline: Chemistry
- Essential Qualification: PhD in Material Science / Chemistry / Chemical Science
- Desirable Experience: Nanomaterials for biomedical & defence applications, polymer/ biomaterial/ composite material development, analytical/ spectroscopy/ microscopy techniques & instrumentation.
- Date of Interview: 17th July 2026
Note: Candidates having their own fellowship from any government agencies like CSIR/UGC/DST INSPIRE/DBT etc. & essential qualification can appear as per date of interview and will also be considered for Junior Research Fellowship position. However, these positions are apart from DRDO Fellowship.
General Conditions:
1) For the Post Code RA-01 to RA-03:
- Age: Maximum of 35 years for RA post as on the closing date of receipt of applications. 5 years’ relaxation to SC/ST candidates, 3 years to OBC candidates, and other entitled categories as per govt. rules.
- Emolument: Rs.67000/- plus HRA as per rules applicable in DRDO, during the entire tenure (02 years, non-extendable as per guidelines). The HRA shall be admissible as per govt rules. Contingency grant up to a maximum of Rs.20,000/- per annum during the entire tenure.
- Tenure: Tenure of RA would be limited to a maximum period of two years.
- Eligibility: Only those candidates who have been awarded a Degree / Provisional Degree certificate are eligible to apply.
2) For the Post Code JRF-01 to JRF-04:
- Age: Maximum of 28 years for JRF post as on the closing date of receipt of applications. 5 years’ relaxation to SC/ST candidates, 3 years to OBC candidates, and other entitled categories as per govt. rules.
- Emolument: Rs. 37000/- + HRA per month for 1st and 2nd year as per rules applicable in DRDO. Rs. 42,000/- p.m. for rest tenure, if extended as SRF. The HRA shall be admissible as per govt rules. Contingency grant up to a maximum of Rs.15,000/- per annum for 2 years as JRF. The contingency grant will be increased to Rs.20,000/- per annum for the subsequent years as SRF.
- Tenure: Tenure of JRF would be limited to a maximum period of five years. Selected JRF would work initially for first two years as JRF and would subsequently be elevated as SRF for the remaining three years, subject to satisfactory performance, assessed annually as per DRDO guidelines.
