Objectives of the Position
- Planning and executing laboratory research for the development of automotive paints & coatings
- Translating the Automotive coatings market needs into novel coating chemistries and innovating cutting-edge automotive OEM coatings technologies to secure Intellectual Property Rights
- Maintaining Environment, Health, Safety protocols (Responsible Care)
- Maintaining Quality Management Systems for Product Development (ISO9001, IATF 16949)
Main Tasks
- Develop products (Primer, Basecoat & Clearcoat) for OEM markets that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
- Speedy execution of projects to achieve defined milestones on time, on budget, and on quality through collaborative working with Global technical and cross-functional teams in Mangalore
- Learn and utilize LEAN principles in product development projects
- Perform root-cause analyses and run proof of concept experiments
- Conduct technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders during project update meetings, R&D review meetings, and phase gate reviews
- Provide the required data and support the IP team in filing patent applications and conducting technical evaluations of patents and applications
- Implement EHS procedures at CTC to maintain a safe working environment that supports CTC activities
- Ensure the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and adherence to PPE usage by lab personnel, and correctly follow the Work Permit system. Comply with process safety and environmental codes as per BASF practice.
- Conduct walkthroughs and audits in CTC to ensure early identification of hazards and initiate timely corrective actions and preventive practices
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position
- Education: M.Sc./B.Tech. in Chemistry
- Working Experience: M.Sc with 1-3 years’ experience in the Paints & Coatings related area is a clear advantage
- Technical & Professional Knowledge: Knowledge in polymers, material science, and coatings development
