Core Purpose of the Role

As a Synthetic Chemistry Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting organic synthesis reactions, designing synthetic schemes, and delivering high-quality compounds within tight timelines. The role requires strong expertise in reaction mechanisms, purification techniques, and problem-solving skills to support Syngene’s Discovery Services division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently design synthetic schemes for target compounds and identify rate-limiting steps with mitigation strategies.
  • Perform reactions, reaction workups, purification (chromatography, crystallization, TLC), and operate lab equipment.
  • Conduct literature searches using predictive synthesis tools.
  • Record experimental observations, results, and resource utilization in compliance with ELN policies.
  • Ensure timely analysis of samples, reporting of results, and shipment preparation.
  • Meet Syngene’s productivity expectations without compromising safety or quality.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical interpretation and purification expertise.
  • Comply with EHS standards: handle SDS, emergency response, waste segregation, and lab safety protocols.
  • Attend mandatory training programs, ensuring compliance with quality and data integrity guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold Syngene’s values of Excellence, Integrity, and Professionalism

Skills and Capabilities Required

  • Strong knowledge of organic synthesis concepts and reaction mechanisms.
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot synthetic schemes independently.
  • Advanced purification and analytical interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant lab instruments and apparatus.

Education & Experience

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in General/Organic Chemistry.
  • 2–12 years of relevant industry or research experience.
