The BSIP Scientist B Recruitment has announced 19 Scientist ‘B’ vacancies at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP). Candidates with a first-division M.Sc or recognised equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Biosciences, Geology, Physics, or an allied Earth Science discipline, along with the required research experience, can apply. Candidates with a PhD in the relevant discipline are also eligible as specified in the recruitment.

The Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) is an autonomous research institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Established in 1946, the Institute focuses on advancing fundamental and applied research in the evolution of life and Earth’s changing environments. BSIP is recognised as India’s premier centre for multidisciplinary research in palaeosciences, covering diverse fields such as palaeobotany, palaeontology, geochemistry, and climate change. The Institute is dedicated to promoting the conservation of geoheritage and harnessing innovative technologies for research in palaeosciences.

Details of Vacancies
- Post: Scientist ‘B’
- No. of Vacancies: 19 (02 EWS, 07 UR, 01 ST, 03 SC, 05 OBC, 01 PH)
- Pay Level: Level – 10
- Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years.
- Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. or recognised equivalent qualification with a first division in Biosciences/Geology/Physics/Chemistry or an allied discipline in Earth Science. 03 years of research experience in the relevant discipline, or PhD in the relevant discipline. Applicants for BSIP Scientist B Recruitment should verify that their qualifications and experience meet these essential requirements.
- Desirable Qualifications: Experience in fields such as Palaeontology, Palaeobotany, Ancient DNA, and applications of Artificial Intelligence in Palaeosciences.
Application Fee
The application fee for the post is Rs. 1,000/- for General/OBC/EWS candidates. No application fee is required for SC/ST/PH/Women candidates and those who previously applied for the post of Scientist ‘B’ against Advertisement No. BSIP/S&A/02/2023 dated 14 February 2023.
General Conditions
- Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualifications does not automatically entitle an applicant to be called for an interview.
- All applicants must fulfil the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement.
- The Institute reserves the right not to fill any of the posts without assigning any reason.
- Selected candidates will be appointed initially on probation for two years.
- Usual allowances as per the rules of the Institute, which are on the Government of India pattern, are admissible for the post.
