Job Summary

Drugparadigm is seeking a highly motivated Synthetic Chemist with 3+ years of hands-on experience in organic synthesis to join its In-Vitro Chemistry Lab. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and executing complex synthetic routes, synthesizing novel compounds, and collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams to support drug discovery programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan synthetic routes for small molecules, PROTACs, molecular glues, ADC intermediates, and chemical probes.
  • Execute multi-step organic synthesis using modern synthetic methodologies and optimize reaction conditions for improved yield and efficiency.
  • Perform reaction monitoring, work-up, purification, and isolation of target compounds using chromatographic and related purification techniques.
  • Characterize synthesized compounds using analytical techniques such as NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, IR, and other spectroscopy methods.
  • Support hit-to-lead and lead optimization programs by synthesizing structure-activity relationship (SAR)-focused analogs.
  • Collaborate closely with biology and computational teams to deliver compounds for in-vitro screening and mechanistic studies.
  • Analyze and interpret analytical and biological data to refine compound design and optimize synthetic strategies.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, compound inventories, and project documentation using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).
  • Develop and optimize scalable synthetic methodologies for challenging chemical targets.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while handling chemicals and hazardous reactions.

Required Qualifications for a Synthetic Chemist Job:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial or research experience in synthetic or medicinal chemistry.
  • Strong expertise in multi-step organic synthesis and modern synthetic methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with purification techniques such as flash chromatography, preparative HPLC, and related methods.
  • Proficiency in interpreting analytical data from NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, IR, and other characterization techniques.
  • Experience working on drug discovery programs involving small molecules, PROTACs, molecular glues, ADC intermediates, or related therapeutic modalities is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and scientific communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Skills for a Synthetic Chemist Job:

  • Experience in reaction optimization and process development.
  • Familiarity with Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR)-driven medicinal chemistry.
  • Knowledge of electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) and scientific data management.
