Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) scheme. The position is available in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, under the supervision of Dr. Rohit Ranganathan Gaddam.
Project Title: “Multiscale Interface Engineering of NASICON Solid Electrolytes for High Energy, Dendrite-Free Anode-Free Sodium-Ion Batteries”
Project Description:
The project focuses on the design and development of advanced NASICON-type solid electrolytes through multiscale interface engineering. The research aims to address critical challenges in sodium-ion batteries, including dendrite suppression, interfacial stability, and achieving high energy density in anode-free configurations.
- Number of posts: 01 (One)
- Duration: Initial appointment for 1 year, extendable up to the project duration based on satisfactory performance
- Salary: The position is funded by ANRF of India and the salary will be as per ANRF norms (37000 + HRA).
The selected candidate will work on:
- Synthesis and processing of solid electrolytes and electrode materials
- Interface engineering and surface modification strategies
- Electrochemical characterization (EIS, cycling, rate performance, etc.)
- Structural and physicochemical characterization (XRD, SEM, etc.)
- Assembly and testing of sodium-ion batteries
Minimum qualifications:
- BE/ME/M.Tech/MS (by Research) in Chemical Engineering or any allied branches of chemical engineering with a qualified score in GATE. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST) in their bachelor’s and master’s. Please note that the candidates with master’s degrees must have done bachelor’s in relevant engineering/technology disciplines.
Or
- Master’s degree in chemistry with a valid score in GATE/CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship). Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade Point out of 10) (55% / 6 CGPA for SC/ST) in their master’s.
- Candidates with demonstrated experience in solid-state battery systems, NASICON-type materials, interface engineering, or coupled electrochemical – structural characterization will be given preference.
