Core Purpose of the Role:
Personnel handling this profile will be responsible for conducting reactions and delivering final compounds within a fast turnaround time, meeting the specific requirements of both the project and Syngene. The candidate should be capable of independently solving chemistry problems. They should ensure that experimental observations are recorded contemporaneously and in compliance with the Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) policies of the project and Syngene.
Role Accountabilities:
- Perform synthetic chemistry reactions, reaction workups, purification of the compounds by column chromatography, crystallization, re-crystallization techniques, preparative TLC, and operating lab equipment
- Ensure that the samples generated during synthesis are given for analysis, record subsequent results, update the supervisor/group leader on the progress of synthesis, and ensure samples are packed appropriately for shipment
- Record the observations of experiments/reactions, results, utilization of resources, and other activities related to the reaction in the laboratory or e-notebook following guidelines in a timely manner, ensuring that the same is handled safely and confidentially
- Meet Syngene’s productivity expectations (# of compounds/month and # of steps/month) without compromising on safety and quality
- Synthesize final compounds within a faster turnaround time
- Demonstrate excellent analytical interpretation and purification skills
- Ensure knowledge of the SDS of the chemicals handled and be aware of emergency response procedures in case of accidental spillage, leakage, or fire; ensure proper waste segregation as per EHS norms
- Follow EHS and quality system requirements in the workplace, ensuring individual and lab safety at all times
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and update training records as needed
- Ensure confidentiality at all times

Experience:
- Up to 5 years
Skills and Capabilities:
- Strong knowledge of organic synthesis concepts and reaction mechanisms
- Ability to solve synthetic problems independently
- Expertise in purification and analytical interpretation skills
- Familiarity with the operation of relevant instruments and equipment
Education:
- M.Sc in General or Organic Chemistry
