A position for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) is available in the research group of Prof. Swadhin K. Mandal, Professor, Dept. of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata. The research work involves knowledge and interest in the synthesis of reactive main-group compounds and their catalytic application towards activation and functionalization of sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxide etc.
Title of project: “Catalytic Activation and Functionalization of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and Nitrous Oxide (N2O) using Reactive Main-group Compounds”

Funding agency: SERB
Principal Investigator: Prof. Swadhin K. Mandal, Professor, Dept. of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata.
Remuneration: As per SERB rules (Rs. 37000/- plus HRA, if applicable).
Tenure: One year, depending on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The position may be extendable up to the end of project i.e. 25.12.2025, based on availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The position may be terminated by PI with one month notice if the candidate does not show satisfactory performance.
Basic Eligibility Criteria: Highly motivated candidates interested in Organic Chemistry/Inorganic Chemistry/General Chemistry with M.Sc. in Chemistry (minimum 55% marks in M.Sc. or
equivalent).Additional experience (desirable): Candidate should be qualified with NET/GATE/DSTINSPIRE (or equivalent). Candidate should have strong knowledge and interest in main-group chemistry and catalysis. Candidates with prior expertise with Schlenk line techniques will be given preference.
Relaxation in Age and Academic qualification for SC/ST/OBC etc: As per Govt. of India rules.
