Role Description

Purpose of the Job

• Experience in formulating cold/hot rolling lubricants and thorough knowledge of their application.
• Characterization and testing of lubricants.
• Monitor lubricant health in rolling mills and maintain a database to ensure compliance with standards.
• Understand lubricant application in rolling mills and assist the team in defect identification and lubricant trials, coordinating between R&D, Quality, and Operations.
• Design and fabricate experimental setups or techniques to simulate plant conditions.
• Compile and interpret test results, write technical reports, and prepare graphs and charts.
• Maintain and uphold a safe work environment at the R&D laboratory.
• Order and inventory materials and spares to maintain supply.

Job Responsibilities

1. Monitor lubricant health across cold rolling mills and maintain a database.
2. Coordinate and assist cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, and Operations) during defect identification and lubricant trials in the plant.
3. Ensure safety and ISO compliance in the laboratory.
4. Compile and interpret test results, and write technical reports.
5. Characterization and testing of lubricants.

Skills

• Should possess prior knowledge of rolling oil development, steel rolling mills, and lubricant application.

Other Details

Qualifications

• M.Tech/PhD in Chemical/Oil/Petrochemicals/Polymer Engineering or M.Sc in Chemistry.
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in lubricant formulation and application.
• Experience in developing rolling oils will be an added advantage.
