Job Description: Selected candidates will work on research project entitled “Materials and Catalytic Process for Fine and Specialty Chemicals from Marine and Biomass Resource”. The candidate would be working on the designing catalysts and optimizing processes for fine and specialty chemicals and the transformation of biomass, pertaining to some ongoing industrially relevant research endeavour.

Duration of the project for Project Associate in CSMCRI: This position is purely temporary for a period of one year. Therefore, it would not confer any right/claim, implicit or explicit, for any candidate for extension or absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI.

Applications are invited for Project Associate -I (PA-I) to work in a research project entitled “Materials and Catalytic Process for Fine and Specialty Chemicals from Marine and Biomass Resource” for a duration of one year.

Essential Qualification we seek in you! :

M.Sc. in Chemistry

Desirable for Project Associate in CSMCRI:

Candidates having minimum one year research experience in the area

of inorganic / organic synthesis and characterization techniques.

Fellowship: Rs. 25,000/- p.m. (consolidated).

Age: Maximum 35 years as on 17.07.2023. Age relaxation is applicable as per Institute rules.

Answer: In my previous role as a Research Assistant, I worked on projects related to renewable energy and environmental sustainability. I have a strong background in utilizing various analytical techniques, such as X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy, to study material properties.  Answer: I believe effective time management and prioritization are crucial in meeting project deadlines. When faced with multiple tasks, I first assess their urgency and importance. I create a detailed work plan, breaking down tasks into smaller, manageable components. I set realistic timelines for each task and regularly monitor progress. I am proactive in communicating with team members and supervisors, seeking clarification or guidance if needed. By staying organized and focused, I ensure that deadlines are met without compromising the quality of work.

3. Can you provide an example of a challenging situation you encountered during a research project and how you resolved it?

 Answer: During a research project on catalyst development, we encountered difficulties in achieving the desired catalytic activity. To address this challenge, I collaborated closely with team members and conducted an in-depth literature review to identify potential solutions. We adjusted the synthesis parameters and modified the experimental procedures based on the literature findings. Through careful experimentation and analysis, we successfully optimized the catalyst’s performance and achieved the desired results. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and utilizing available resources to overcome challenges.

4. How do you contribute to effective communication and collaboration within a research team?

Answer: Effective communication and collaboration are vital for successful research projects. I actively participate in team meetings, sharing my progress, ideas, and concerns with colleagues. I actively listen to others’ perspectives and respect diverse viewpoints. I am responsive to emails and messages, ensuring timely communication with team members. Additionally, I document and share important information and findings with the team through presentations or reports. Answer: Data analysis and interpretation are critical components of research work. I begin by organizing and verifying the collected data to ensure accuracy. I critically evaluate the results, comparing them with existing literature and theoretical expectations. I utilize data visualization techniques, such as graphs or charts, to effectively present findings. I believe in drawing scientifically sound conclusions and providing evidence-based interpretations of the data.
