Job Title: Associate Scientist – Analytical Science
Job Location 152927 – Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Eligbility Criteria & Skills:
- M.Sc. (Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic/Organic Chemistry/Bioanalytical or related stream of study)
- Minimum 5-7 yrs experience, elemental testing focus is required.
- Experienced with ICP-OES based systems is a must
- Raw material characterization dexterity and design protocols to identify and test the same in oral care formulations
- Have a good experimental background and skills using HPLC, GC and FTIR (hands-on with Perkin-Elmer and Bruker databases)
- Actively participate in global thematic community on vibrational spectroscopy
- Working experience in ICH guidelines, cGMP norms, with strength on good documentation practices with strong & unwavering focus on data-integrity
- Technology Fundamental, Technology Innovation, Product Safety, Regulatory and
- Quality, Execution Excellence, Problem Solving and Business Presentation skills.
- Able to integrate seamlessly into a successful team
- Good knowledge of computer systems and softwares (eLN, LIMS and OpenLab for Agilent enterprise workspace)
- Strong prioritization skills and self-directed
- Strong attention to details, decision making skills and adherence to safety procedures and practices.
Job Summary (purpose):
We are looking for a Senior Associate Scientist – Analytical Sciences to join our ambitious team at our IGTeD center. The incumbent in this role will be responsible for end to end planning & implementation in partnership with local & global analytical & product development teams for respective categories for India and other Colgate Zones while being compliant to defined safety, quality & regulatory norms.
Main Responsibilities:
Analytical Sciences
- As a part of the Analytical Sciences team, work with Implementation & Support, procurement and suppliers to lead matters pertaining to raw materials used in Colgate formulations.
- Support business cost savings targets on formulations by valuing and consciously improving Colgate’s portfolio of raw materials – all this by collaborating closely with the formulators, quality, suppliers and procurement teams, esp. on alternate vendor selection.
- Use technical knowledge as well as understanding of Colgate specific guidelines to ensure that new raw materials for oral care comply to Colgate’s standards.
- Be a key contact to external/vendor labs for questions and education on Colgate’s raw material quality guidelines.
- Clearly and concisely communicate on the status of the raw materials (India and Europe) in the qualification/integration process.
- Work in tandem with the reporting manager to allocate resources and prioritize projects based on dynamic launch timelines for the India biz.
- Lead Quality & EOHS standards either independently or as a part of a cross-functional group. Coordinate with external labs and institutes for advanced analytical techniques.
- Analyze raw materials, experimental formulas, finished products, competitive products, and troubleshooting samples. Follow written analytical lab procedures from global, experimental methods and published standard or compendia sources.
- Perform Method development, method validations, Tech transfer to plants and perform and report the results of routine analysis using Analytical Instrumentation in a cGMP environment.
- Maintain, calibrate, qualify and troubleshoot instrumentation. Maintain accurate, up to date and concise laboratory records.
Functional Linkages
- Internal: PD/I&S, Microbiology, Technical services, Supply chain, manufacturing units and suppliers.
- External: Global Manufacturing sites, regulatory, global analytical sciences group & Quality Team.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with global counterparts from other technology centers to reach objectives; integrate the international scope of analytical sciences by striking a balance between best practices of standardization and local country requirements.
Operational Excellence
- Demonstrate knowledge in the identified scientific field. Stay abreast of the latest technical developments and breakthroughs by drawing on industry contacts, scientific literature, conferences, and patent filings. Build on technical expertise, expanding it in complementary directions. Use technical expertise and creativity to identify potential problems and address them using appropriate resources proactively.
- Be 100% compliant to all Product Safety, Quality, and Regulatory requirements to operate with cost efficiency and speed. Practice good documentation practices.

Should handle assigned business programs independently with minimum supervision.
